If you are wondering what our daily lives look like, what we do and how we organize ourselves.  Here is a summary of a normal day at Casa Hogar Alegre.

  • The First Hour After getting up, we clean up and have breakfast

  • Off to learn! From 8-12:30, we have our school day in designated classrooms based on age. All the students have school uniforms.

  • Lunch Time to eat! Look how much we eat!

  • Lunch Time to eat! Look how much we eat!

  • Our favorite hour, time for fun! We also have recreational activities, some guided and also free play time.

  • After a busy day, now it’s time for dinner, baths and sleep.

Life Skill Programs

With the purpose of instilling in children a work ethic, we have designed several workshops so that they learn trades and develop skills that may be useful to them in the future.

What started as a workshop is now a small pastry shop open to the public, called Dulce Gracia. We make all kinds of confectionery, and we offer it locally.

Sewing Workshop        

We also have a sewing workshop where the girls are taught to make some types of garments. Part of the work that has been done in this workshop is their own school uniforms.

Carpentry Shop             

Another workshop that is currently growing is carpentry. 

Other Activities

We also have other activities and while they are not part of our daily routine, we take advantage of educational moments outside of the classroom.  These activities can be of a cultural, educational, recreational, or spiritual nature, but always with the aim of providing knowledge and values to the children.

We organize many of them internally, but on occasion, visitors or groups from outside also come to spend time with the children.
